Laurel Golio is a Brooklyn-based photographer and visual anthropologist. Her work revolves around the examination of community and its various subcultures, with a focus on using portraiture to investigate issues of self-presentation and identity.
She co-founded We Are the Youth, a photojournalism project that shares the stories of LGBTQ+ youth, 21 and under, in the United States. Laurel has been recognized by PDN’s 30 Photographers to Watch and the American Library Association for her book, We Are the Youth.
